Hi my name is Sarah Stetner I'm a expert horse rider on behalf of Expert Village. I'm showing you how to bridle and unsaddle a horse. So we just got done riding him. The first thing that we do is take his bridle off. So the correct way to do this get a halter ready, undo the throat latch, or unbuckle the throat latch. You put the halter over his neck. Just so he doesn't run off this is a safe way to do it. You can see that I still have my reins and my lead rope up and over my shoulder and now we slide the bridle part over the head and gently let the horse release the bit. You are going to let the horse release the bit. You don't want to drop the bit really quick because that would hurt the horses mouth if they are not ready to give it. I have seen that many times done and it just makes me cringe having a piece of metal coming out of your mouth at that speed. So now I'm going to put on the horses halter and tie him up to take off his saddle.
