"Hi! This is Sally Martine with expertvillage.com, in this clip I’m going to show you how to get your horse to go forward. Anytime you give a horse command steering or going forward you want to make sure that your hand with the reins is over the horses neck so bring your hand over the neck and when you want the horse to go you lift your feet from the horse’s side and squeeze the horse with your knees and the bottom of your feet. If that doesn’t get the horse to go you need to pull your leg out further and kick the horse on the sides, horses have tough skin you don’t want to kick them overly much but they’re not going to feel like you and I do so give them a kick, maybe give them an encouragement with…lean forward in your saddle, move the reins up the neck, everything moving forward and that will get them to walk for you."
