"This is Randall Powell with Expert Village, and in this clip, we're going to talk about the consideration of age and gender when choosing a horse. 3 genders of horses. There's the stallion, which is male that's not been neutered that can reproduce and he acts like most stallions out there. They tend to be a little hot and hard to control at times. Then there's is mares, which aren't quite as bad but they still have the reproductive organs. At the right time of their cycles, they can tend to be a little hard to get a long with as well. The safest horse will probably be the gelding, which is a neutered stallion. They have no intent of reproducing or breeding the other sex. They are always generally pretty calm and easy to get a long with. Another factor you're looking for is age in a horse. If you're selecting a horse for rodeo or something you intend on doing for some time, you want to get a younger horse that can carry you through years of rodeo and activity. If you're looking for a horse that you just want to ride around and kind of retire out in your pastor, you'd want an older horse that would be more gentle. These may be some tips that you can help decide in choosing a horse. "
