"The next thing we're going to talk about is how to measure your heat inside your aquarium. This is just as important as heating your aquarium because we can't judge heat very well. We don't know if it's 75 degrees or 80 degrees. We could guess, but we don't know. So, we want to be careful when we are heating our aquariums. The way we're going to do that... we're going to judge that by putting a thermometer in there, at least one, if not two, which is what I prefer. These are the different types of thermometers that we can look at and try to use. The first one is the dial kind of thermometer. As you can see, it's just like a regular old dial. The needle is going to move as the temperature goes up and down. If they have the self-adhesive sticker on the back, you just stick it in the aquarium, inside the aquarium. The next thing we're going to look at is the liquid crystal thermometers. These also have a self-adhesive strip on the back. You pull it off; you stick it on the inside of the aquarium. I don't recommend these, they do not show heat very well, they do not judge heat very well, they're hard to read. Personally, I would tell you to stay away from them. The price tag will be very tempting at half the price of any other thermometer. But you won't be happy with the performance. And then, on a little higher end of the thermometers you can look at the digital thermometers, which I'll talk about in just a second."
