"The next thing we're going to talk about, after since we've already spoken about heating, is how to gauge your heat, and for that we're going to need a thermometer. Now, you can't trust yourself to gauge heat. You can't put your hand in there and be like, "Oh, that feels like eighty five degrees", because you don't know what eighty five degrees really feels like. It's very important we use a thermometer in every reptile enclosure, preferably I recommend you use two. Okay. Now here's the different types of thermometers we could use. There's your liquid crystal thermometer, and that's a little strip with a self-adhesive back. Okay, you pull the back off, you stick it on the inside of the aquarium, preferably in the back so it's easy to view, and you're going to read off the temperature off of it. I don't recommend these. They are cheap. They are inexpensive, I understand. However, they're very hard to read and they don't tend to gauge temperature very accurately. So I'm going to recommend that you do not use the liquid crystal thermometers. Preferably you use one of these two, which is your dial thermometer, like this guy. As you can see, it's very easy to read. It's just a dial with a needle that'll go up and down as the temperature goes. Again, this is also got a self-adhesive back. You pull it off, stick it in the back on the back of the aquarium, on the inside of course, so it can properly gauge the temperature. These work extremely well and I highly recommend them and they're not very expensive. And the last type that we can talk about and we're going to talk about in more depth in just a moment, is the digital thermometer."
