"Now we're going to talk about listening to your leopard gecko. Yeah, I know, he doesn't really talk. He doesn't really make much of any noise, though they can make a tiny, little audible one. But, what I mean by listening, I mean, by watching his behavior on a daily basis, and letting him tell you things. Because, they do tell you things. And part of your job as a new owner of a leopard gecko, is to listen to him, and let him communicate with you. You need to be watching for behaviors like spending too much time on any one side of the aquarium. If he's spending all his time on the daylight bulb side, and as soon as that turns off, he quickly runs over to the night bulb side, your tank isn't hot enough. He's telling you that he needs more heat in there. If he's spending all his time on the dark, on the coolest side of the aquarium, he's telling you that it's too hot, in that enclosure, and he needs you to turn it down a little bit. He's starting to get a little dehydrated. Also, if he's sitting in his water bowl all the time and soaking and soaking and soaking, he's thirsty. He needs more hydration, or possibly also, he's getting ready to shed, and also a good reason for more hydration. It's not a bad idea, to maybe mist your leopard gecko once a day, it can't hurt him, it can only help, and keep him nice and hydrated. So, make sure you're watching his behavior. It's part of the fun of having a leopard gecko, it's part of the fun of having any animal, and let him talk to you, through his behavior. It's going to be better for him, and better for you."
