Gecko Behavior

"Now the next thing we're going to talk about very quickly, is the behavior of your leopard gecko. Now, you've got your leopard gecko at home, he's all set up in his new aquarium. You've had him home for a couple days and left him alone now, let him settle in. But you're a little concerned, he's spending all of his time hiding. He's under a rock, or under a log, under his water bowl all the time, and wasn't, won't come out. Don't be concerned. Leopard geckos are a nocturnal species. They are going to spend the majority of the day hidden under somewhere, be it a log, or a hide that you've provided for them, or underneath their water bowl. They like to do that. They're going to spend a lot of their time under there, sleeping during the day. They're going to come out at night, and that's when they'll be more active. You'll see them trundling around, hunting, looking for food. That's probably your best time to feed them as well. You probably want to have your feeding schedule, so that sometime in the evening, or maybe very early in the morning, they're going to be up and active, a little bit more alert, and more readily to feed. This is also why we're using a night light, at night, a red, or black, or blue bulb, so you can see your leopard geckos as they move around, and are a little more active."
