Gecko Food

"The next thing we're going to talk about, is food for your leopard gecko. He needs food, he's got to eat. Got to eat to grow, as they say. So, the main staple of your diet for a leopard gecko is going to end up, probably, being crickets, like these guys. Now, make sure you're not catching anything out of the wild, that can carry pesticides and things like that. So you want to make sure you're buying your crickets from somewhere, be it a pet store, online, or something like that. With only one leopard gecko, you're probably better off just buying them in a pet store. They're not expensive. They usually run somewhere around a dollar a dozen or so. You want to make sure that you're not getting anything too big. You want to stay with stuff that's no bigger than the space between his eyes, preferably. So, some of these guys in here, are going to be too big for the leopard gecko that we were looking at a little bit earlier. But, for an adult, they'd be just fine. Other things that you can use to feed your leopard gecko, would be like, say, wax worms, which are little grub like-looking worms. OK? These are generally going to come in little tubs, they're refrigerated to stop them from turning into beetles on you. They are alive though, if I warm them up and poke them a little bit. Be stingy with these, they are high in fat, um, better as a treat than a main staple of the diet. But variety is the key to a good nutrition, so, not a bad idea to try them every once in a while. Also, you can use your standard mealworms. OK? See these guys moving around a little bit for us. Your standard mealworm, they're nice and small, um, perfectly fine for a leopard gecko. Probably going to wait until he gets a little bit bigger, to feed these guys though."
