"Okay, so we've got our turtle. We've picked a Red Eared Slider today and we've purchased him and we've gave him a little once over and made sure he was healthy and good to go. The next thing we're going to need is a cage to keep him in and what I recommend for your average turtle to start off with is going to be like a 40 gallon breeder. This is a great size to start with when you're talking about a turtle the size that we have, which is, he's about 6 inches or so. Now what you're looking for is your looking for a large area. You want the biggest tank you can possibly get when you're looking at tanks because you have to remember these turtles get big. He's going to get maybe up to a foot and we want to give him as much space as humanly possible. So you're looking for a big aquarium. This guy in particular is 36 inches by 18 inches deep by, I'm not sure how many inches tall. I think it's 18 or 20 inches tall and what we're going to do is we're going to fill that a little bit more than half way with water and then we'll add some filtration and things like that, but we'll get to all that in a moment. Again you want something that's got a screen top. This one has a nice screen top built in to it, so that you can make sure that the turtle is secure and once again we're looking for floor space. We're looking for the biggest enclosure we can possibly get. Turtles are big and they like to move around. Sticking them in a small little tank is not going to do them in the long run."
