"Next we're going to talk a little bit about is the heat pad. Now, a heat pad is a subsidiary heating device for a reptile enclosure. This should not be used as an only heating device. Heat pads do not put off enough heat, especially for a bearded dragon, to get you in the proper temperature ranges. The maximum heat on a desert rated heat pad is only going to be about twenty-five watts for a large one. Not nearly enough heat power to heat your reptile. What these are is they're going to be small - they're going to be little plastic slips, ok, you're going to pull off the adhesive back to it and you're going to put it on bottom outside of your aquarium. It's also going to come with little rubber feet. Those rubber feet are going to go on each corner of your aquarium to raise the aquarium off of the surface it's sitting on. It's very important you use those feet because of the heat builds up under there from the heat pad you can crack the bottom of your aquarium. Also, it's important to know that whenever we're talking about wattages and ratings it's important you follow the instructions on all the packaging of any product you are buying, because they are all fire hazards, they're talking about heating equipment that generates heats anywhere up to one hundred and ten to two hundred degrees in temperatures. It's very important that you treat that seriously and with respect. I have known people who have caught their houses on fire not following the instructions properly. Now, there are other types of various heating devices, but those are going to be your most readily available in heating devices in the local pet store. So I'm not going to really go over the other ones like radiant heat panels and heat tape, and other various devices if you're interested in other options I suggest that you do a little research on your own."
