"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Laura and I am here to tell you about dwarf hamsters. Before you bring your hamster home, first thing you need to do is make sure you've got the right set up. First thing you need to worry about is the bedding. Hamsters love to burrow. They need to be in a bedding that they can burrow in but yet not toxic to them. The Soft Sorbet bedding is very good for that. It enables them to burrow and do their natural instinct. It has none of the dust that you would encounter with your cedar shavings. Cedar shavings have long been what most people have used to put their hamsters in. It is now come to light that the dust from the cedar causes upper respiratory infections in small animals and rodents. Bedding also serves as an odor control for your rodent or your hamster. A lot of beddings don't absorb odors. There are several beddings available. Make sure that when you pick a bedding that it is odor controlling and it doesn't have a lot of dust."
