"Before we start jumping, it's important to make sure that we have proper tack and leg gear. When using, when picking your saddle, you want to make sure that it's not so deep that you are unable to get up out of the tack. So making sure you have a saddle that was designed for jumping. Also, it's important to use some sort of leg protection when jumping, as if your horse hits the fence or you have a stumble, the leg gear can help protect your horse's legs. And I like to use them on all four legs, but certainly at least on the legs that have shoes on. Lastly, I like to use bell boots when jumping, and this just protects your horses front shoes, so that if their back feet come up and clip the front foot, the bell boot acts as a safety, and helps to keep your horse's hoof and shoe protected."
