"Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village. I'm going to show you my tips and techniques to properly bridle your horse with a English bridle. So the last thing you want to do with your bridle before you get on to ride is you want to make sure your bit is laying properly in your horse mouth. One way that you can do this is you want to gage how many wrinkles are on each side of the lip. So right here she has maybe one wrinkle if we are lucky so that is telling me that the bit is hanging a little to low in her mouth. So this could lead it to being hitting her teeth which could be a little uncomfortable for your horse. It also can leave you not having the amount of control that you might want. So what we are going to do is we are going to take our cheek piece her that is attached to our bit and we are going to take it. We are going to pull our bit up in our horse's mouth that one time and see what that does. You can see we have about 2 wrinkles here which you can see near her lips. You don't want the bit all jacked up all the way up in the horses mouth but you want to be able to see that you are at least hitting the bars of the mouth and you are getting a little bit of response and a little bit of control out of it. Of course, you would want to go around and adjust the other side and make sure that the bit is hanging evenly now in the horses mouth. So that is how you would want to adjust where your bit is in your horses mouth."
