"Now, perhaps the most important guideline, or rule if you will when someone is disclosing information to you, it is essential that you keep the information to yourself. Do not under any circumstances, no matter how difficult it is, go spread the information all over town, or all over the office, or to anyone. A lot of negative things can come out of the relationship if this happens. Obviously, the person who disclosed the information is going to feel very betrayed, rightly so. A lot of other problems could come for you, and the person who disclosed the information, especially if it's a work-type situation. But most importantly, the relationship is going to be, it's going to suffer pretty serious consequences. If someone trusts you, and shares information with you, and you don't keep it to yourself; if you betray that confidence, you can pretty well guarantee that relationship is over, or will have some serious consequences that you're going to have to make up for."
