"This is Vicki Walker for Expert Village. For the purpose of our demonstration today in making on how to make a backpack we have cut the fabric to 15x20. We have pressed down the edges to prepare for the casing and now I have pressed down a inch and a half from the top and I would be pinning. Turning under a 1/4 of a inch to prepare for the seam for the casing where the cord would go through for the drawstring portion of the bag. One more pin and we would be ready fro the sewing machine. I would be sewing close to the pressed edge and reinforcing this a couple time over to be sure that the drawstring is put through the casing. That it is not going to pull the seam up on the sides. I suspect that this backpack would be getting a lot of use and I want it to last for a long time. That is just about it for this side to be reinforcing the end and we would do the same thing with the other side and that takes care of the casing where the drawstring would be drawn through. "
