"This is Vicki Walker for Expert Village. Today the project we are working on is a backpack. The one that I happen to be making is for a sweet little girl who loves ladybugs. This should be an appropriate fabric for her. Size wise I used this backpack as a guide to determine what size to make it. I decided that I wanted a little bit more space to what this one had and the size that I have chose would be 15x20. However if you were planning to put something larger in it like maybe a couple night stay of cloths for a little girl, for a sleep over or something like that you may want a little bit more size of what this one has. 15x20 should take care of it for the purpose of the backpack that I'm making today. You want to make sure that you allow enough for seam allowance I think about 5/8 inches on each side should be plenty. Enough on the top so you would be able turn down your casing which is where the piping or the cord would go through at the top. So this one should be plenty large. That is probably all about what you need to know as far as the size and the cutting out of the backpack. This one is cut so we would be ready to go onto the next clip."
