"You also notice I keep my rough draft tracing outline and the picture of the bird close by so I can compare them as I go along. Remember one thing as you do this you can use your artistic light senses not like we are going for a photogenic capture of what we are doing. Remember this is the outline of what you are doing, gives you something to work by. The one thing I like about birds is the angles that are going to be created in the feathers. So if you notice what I am doing, I am putting sharp angles on the feathers. Okay, now I have finished the outline with what I wanted to do with the bird and I will show you right now. Now, what you want to do right now, turn the pen off, now that I have my outline I want to go in right now with a pencil and mark what else that needs to be done. One of the main things you want to do is really pay attention to the eyes. The eyes can either make you or break you in a drawing like this. If you notice I am using a No. 2 pencil really light, I can go back and work into and work out of that does not leave a permanent mark on the board itself. "
