Series Summary

Just like each season requires a different set of clothes, shorts in the summer, coats in the winter, etc., your dinner table should be treated to a seasonal makeover as well. The most common way to change things up is a new tablecloth, but everybody does that. You are different, creative, innovative. What you want to do is change the napkin rings. But not to some souvenirs you bought in a store, but to something you made yourself.

In this free series of dinnerware crafts, our expert will demonstrate how to make your own spring, summer, winter and fall napkin holders, with vibrant colors and special touches to distinguish each one. Stephanie Barnett begins the series with an overview of the materials you need, then takes you though the creation of each seasonal ring, adding ribbons, gluing gems and flowers to create distinctive napkin rings for your distinguished guests.

"Hi, I'm Stephanie Barnett. On behalf of Expert Village, I'm here to show you how to make seasonal napkin ring holders. These are the supplies you'll need for your seasonal napkin ring holders. First I would like for you to get some gems, these are for the winter napkin ring holders. I use clear gems cause that reminded me of snowflakes. I also would like for you to get some sequins. I'm going to use silver. You can use gold whatever your preferences are, that's for another winter napkin ring holder. You're also going to need some ribbon. I prefer the satin ribbon because it has an elegant look and touch to it and it will be easy to wind around your cardboard tubing. You'll need a cardboard tube. This is from gift wrapping you can also use one from paper towels. I'm going to be using a hot glue gun today. You don't have to use a hot glue gun, you can use craft glue as well. You also need some fake leafs and some artificial flowers and choose ones that remind you of spring and your favorite flowers and kind of personalize this. So your guest at your dinner party know how much you care. You also need a metal ruler, a cutting board I really prefer that you use a cutting board rather than cutting right on your table, you'll wreck your tables that way. You'll need scissors, retractable knife, a pencil, thread and needle. I like to have a paper plate on hand for my hot glue gun so it doesn't get glue all over my table. You also need seashells or anything else that reminds you of summer. You can substitute or add other things that you would like that remind you of this favorite thing about different seasons for yourself."
