"Hi! In this series I'm going to talk about cutting tools for your scrap book. They are one of the most important parts because you do a lot of cutting in scrap booking. The most important thing I would get would be a personal trimmer. This is just one type. There are all kinds of different brands. You should find the one that works best for you. They come with a retractable blade that moves up and down very easily. You have to replace that periodically, and you usually have to replace the cutting pad. They usually have an arm that will swing out for measuring. For example, if you want to have a 6 inch cut, there's a ruler here that will help you measure. You would just put your paper in, you lift up the arm. It makes great long cuts if you need to cut an exact amount, a nice straight amount. I want to cut off this curved part. I just pull it right straight towards me and I've got a cut. That comes awfully handy whenever you're scrap booking. Another tool is called the guillotine kind of cutter. Don't put your fingers in there. It's a nice blade that you usually don't have to replace because it just doesn't work that way. It's for cutting small things. I trim photos and things like that. Small pieces of paper you just stick it under and it's off. That's a really neat kind of tool to use if you want a real quick cut. I also always suggest getting a pair of precision tip scissors. You want to cut sometimes intricate details. They're very sharp and cut well. You want to make sure that if you're using these kinds of scissors to cut everything’s that you have another spare pair, because once you start cutting other materials they don't tend to cut paper as well. If they start to get dull, you can always cut through some aluminum foil. That will definitely help to sharpen them. A lot of people also suggest getting an Exacto knife. That will, if you use on a glass mat, can just trim the inside of letters or things like that. Just make sure that you get the cutting tools that work best for you."
