"I'm Sylva Kelegian with Expert Village, I'm here with Simone Luncher from Pet Mania in Burbank and the most important topic that we can talk about when it comes to animals is spaying and neutering. It is the most important thing you can do for the welfare of this world, is to spay and neuter your animals. There are at least five million animals that are put down in our shelters in this country every year and in Los Angeles alone there's fifty thousand cats and dogs killed every year because there are just too many animals and not enough good homes. So the most important thing you can do for your animal, not only for the welfare of the world but also for your animal because when you spay your dog, you help her to prevent her from getting cancer later on and also when you neuter your male, prostate cancer is not as prevalent and they can live a lot longer and happier lives too. They're not always wanting to get out and going and mating. So people that think it's unfortunate and cruel to neuter, a lot of guys have a thing, don't neuter your males, it's kind of a macho thing, I'm here to tell you, it's not a macho thing, you must do it. If you want to be cool and macho, neuter your dog. Yes, and please also don't breed your animals, a lot of people think they have the most wonderful dog in the world, guess what, no, I have the most wonderful dog in the world, and I have the most wonderful dog in the world. I just ran into a gentleman the other day with a huge pit bull in the dog park and was not neutered and I asked him was there any reason why your dog is not neutered and he said he wants to breed him and I was just like, you know, if you go to the animal shelter, probably ninety percent of the dogs are pit bulls and pit bull mixes and its a very unpopular breed. They're great dogs but they're unpopular, most people are scared of them. Even if you think you have this pit bull from breeders or whatever, and have like some champion lines, please don't do it, it's so silly. And you know, let's say your dog has a littler and it has you know, twelve puppies. You might end up keeping one, maybe your friend takes one, maybe your neighbor takes one, what's going to happen to the other ten. You never know, you'll never know ten years from now what happened to the other ten, did they reproduce as well, did they end up in the shelter, did they get euthanized, you never know. So it doesn't make any sense and like I said, your dog is not the most gorgeous one, that's mine. And mine. And from each dog that is not neutered or spayed, sixty four thousand other dogs can be born because of that one dog over a life time. So think about that and please spay and neuter your animals. You can get vouchers to do it for free. There are vans that go around especially in Los Angeles that do it for free. You don't have to pay to do it so go to your shelter, get a voucher and go get your dog spayed. Thank you."
