Sewing Machine Needles Used for Making a Tuxedo Pillow

"Hi, I'm Terri Turco with Expert Village and we're in the midst of making the tuxedo pillow. We've attached our lining to the fashion fabric and we are ready to go to the sewing machine to put it all together. But on that note I really need to talk to you for just a brief minute about sewing machine needles. It's something simple but you know it really makes a difference. Now these sewing machine needles are for silk and since we're making a silk pillow those two seem to go together. What's really important about using the right needle with the right fabric, if I would use a needle that's a size fourteen and your size twelve. Needles do have different sizes. It would puncture the fabric with too big of a hole or it wouldn't sew the fabric at all. In essence really ruining not only the stitching but the fabric itself. So, whenever you are in doubt, more than just pinning, a needle is about sewing. And when you are using a sewing machine needle do make sure that you get the proper needle for your machine at all times. It will really, really make a difference in your fabric and in the basic sewing of that fabric. You always want it to look as crisp and as professional as possible. And there's a number of different needle companies to look at but what's most important is the size of the needle. So when in doubt, consult one of the fabric people at the store or simply look on the back of the package and it will tell you what the needle is for, whether it's silk, wool, linen, leather. Whatever you might be using. So make sure you go the right needle and when we come back we're going to finally get to sew that tuxedo pillow together and iron it out. And, you love ironing don't you?
