" Hello! I’m Stephany of Stephany’s Simply Sewing on behalf of expertvillage.com. I’d like to show you our next step in our sleeve, and that is going to be to take our flat sleeve and make it into basically a tube so it is a sleeve. What we need to do is determine which is our right side. I’m going to take my right sides and match them together, and when I get to my notches I’m going to be sure that my notches match and I’m going to pin them together. I like to pin because you do have a tendency to have… your fabric will creep because of the feed dog on your machine. This is normal with any amount of or any kind of sewing machine. The feed dogs are what moves your fabric along so that you can stitch. What happens is your feed dogs are on the bottom layer, and so your bottom layer will move with a little bit faster pace than your top layer. I’m going to go ahead and get in line with my 5/8 inch mark, and go ahead and sew my seam. Once I’ve sewn my seam, I’m going to go ahead and press my seam so that I can prepare for the next step of my enclosed seam finish. That is sewing your seam for your sleeve. "
