" Hi! I’m Stephany from Stephany’s Simply Sewing on behalf of expertvillage.com. I’d like to show you how to prepare your sleeve in order to apply your continuous lap. This is the opening that you find when the cuff attaches to the sleeve and there’s that little extra bit in the sleeve. The first thing I’m going to do is I’m going to set my machine the stitch length to be quite short. The reason being is when we stitch this onto our sleeve and cut it, we won’t have a lot of fabric to work with, and the smaller stitches help keep it a little bit more sturdy. What I’ve done is I’ve marked my 2 dots for my pattern, and this is my top dot, and I’m just simply going to sew in a triangular shape. Progressing from the edge of the sleeve up to my dot, and once I get to my dot I’m going to go ahead and rotate and take 2 very small stitches across. Rotate again and stitch back down to the hem of my sleeve. Once I reached the end, I have done the initial preparation for a continuous lap in a sleeve. "
