" Hi! I’m Stephany from Stephany’s Simply Sewing. On behalf of expertvillage.com, I’d like to show how you attach your pocket to your front of your garment. I’ve already prepared my pocket by turning under and stitching the seam, then I have pressed it. The next thing I need to do is go to my garment, which I have already marked my 2 placements. This is where the corners of my pocket are going to rest. I will pin making sure that this top edge, which is the top finished portion of your pocket, is indeed at the top, and pin. This works better when you’re on a flat surface such as a table or your work surface. I will then make sure that my garment is flat, place another pin at the corner, and a pin at the corner of this edge. I am now ready to sew my pocket to my garment. The way I will do that is once again taking my tails of my thread and making sure they’re to the back of my machine. Then I will use my hand wheel being sure that I’m catching the edge of my pocket to start my sewing. Put my presser foot down, and I’m going to stitch right along the edge of this pocket. I also want to back stitch or sew backwards to secure the top of my stitching. I will sew catching the edge of my pocket to this corner. Once I reach the corner, I will use my hand wheel to center my stitch. Leaving the needle down, I will pick up my foot, rotate my fabric and continue sewing. Once I get to this corner, I will back stitch again to secure my stitching. That is how you attach your patch pocket to your shirt front. "
