" Hi! I’m Stephany from Stephany’s Simply Sewing on behalf of Expert Village. I’d like to talk a little bit about how we can choose some thread for our garment. The back of your pattern envelope is going to tell you you need thread, and the question is so how do I know what thread is the correct thread. This is the shirt I’m making for my husband, and I have several choices. I can use white; I can use this green, or this green. I have kind of a beige, and I also have kind of a deeper beige color that’s more of a mushroom. It depends on your purpose for your thread. If you want your stitching to show, you may want to use something has a pretty good contrast to it. If you are not as comfortable doing straight even top stitching or sewing, you may want something that blends a little more nicely with your garment, that way any crooked seams or crooked topstitching that you do won’t be as visible. For my purposes, I think today I’d like to use this kind of cream colored thread. It blends nicely, and yet my topstitching will still be a showable feature and visible on the garment. That is how you choose thread to match your fabric. "
