" Hi! I’m Stephany from Stephany’s Simply Sewing on behalf of expertvillage.com. I’d like to show you little bit about how to handle cutting a curve and cutting on the fold. The first thing I want to show you is how to cut on the curve. Generally, you want to keep the curve to the back your hand. It just seems to be a little bit easier to cut that way. If you’re left handed of course you’ll want to start at this end. By cutting with the curve to the back of your hand like this, you can end up with a much smoother cut line. When we reach our notches, in this case, there are 2, I simply cut a little bit larger of a notch. When you’re cutting from the fold, I like to turn my fabric so that I have the fold where I start cutting. You simply cut along your cutting line. When you open this up it will be a full size back of the shirt in this case. Another special cutting opportunity is when you have seam lines or multi sized patterns where you have overlapping cutting lines. What I’ve done in this case in order to help me keep straight to which cutting line I want to use is took a pink highlighter and I highlighted this area. That’s makes it easy for me when I approach that cutting line to see which one I want to use when I transition this corner. Once again, the curve of this neckline is toward the back of my hand. That is how you cut on the fold and cut curves. "
