" Hi! This is Stephany from Stephany’s Simply Sewing on behalf of expertvillage.com. I’d like to show you a little bit about how to prepare your fabric for making a garment. I purchased this fabric from my local fabric store. I brought it home and I put an edge on the cut end, so that when I throw it in the washing machine I didn’t have string and tangles all over the place. I then washed it and dried it as I would normally. This helps to preshrink your fabrics so that it shrinks before you make your garment. It’s rather distressing to have made a garment and invested that time only to wash it once and have it not fit any longer. After you have washed and dried your fabric as you would the garment, you might want to press your fabric so that it doesn’t have as many wrinkles. That would be how you would prepare your fabric in order to sew a garment. "
