" Hello! I’m Stephany from Stephany’s Simply Sewing. On behalf of expertvillage.com, I will like to show you a few more tools you might want to add to your sewing toolbox. Once you have accumulated the tools for your basic sewing kit that we discussed previously, you may wish to add some of the following items. These are used to set snaps, eyelets, and garments. You might wish to add a set of pinking sheers, which will provide a nice finish on your garments that won’t ravel. This is a chalk marking kit with different colors and chalks so that you can mark different fabrics. Here we have a set of tube turners so you can turn the fabric and make fabric tubes for spaghetti straps, knot buttons and things like that. This is a pressing ham, which is used to press curved seams. In addition, you want to invest in rotary cutter, a self-healing rotary mat, a couple of rotary rulers. The reason why we have these is because they are great for cutting out bias. In addition, you may want to alter or adjust a few patterns, and here are some tools that will help you with that: a good yardstick, an 18-inch ruler, you would want to have a hip curve for redrawing your hip on your skirts and pants. This is the French curve, which helps with armholes and necklines. In addition, you’ll want some Scotch tape to put on your patterns. Tissue pattern is fragile, and sometimes we do have to tape them back together. This is pattern tracing material and just plain paper. These are the items for a more advanced sewer and would be very beneficial for most home sewing needs. "
