"Hi, I'm Terri Turco with Expert Village and today I'm going to show you how to make heads or tails of a sewing pattern and how to pick out the best pattern for you. Now usually you get a pattern at the pattern store, any type of fabric store, but you can also get them on-line. There is a number of different resources. There's a number of different ways to get patterns. You can get them on-line but most people get their patterns at a pattern store or a fabric store. They are really easy to find and it's best if you can buy them half price. But, first of all. There's a number of different companies that have been around for a very long time. There's Vogue and Butterick, which actually are the same parent company. And then there is also McCalls and Simplicity. Of course you are always looking at the fashion. But, what you want to remember, if you are a beginner, is that you need to look at the sewing level that you're going to be working at. Now the pattern that we are going to be working with today is an Easy pattern and it is made by Vogue, alright. Now you will notice that there is other more intricate patterns and they will tell you on the pattern whether it's average difficulty, medium difficulty, or easy. And, if you are just getting started, save yourself some time and trouble because I really want you to like sewing. It's a very relaxing and enjoyable hobby and it is something that you can get a great appreciation for clothing or whatever else you decide to make. So first, let's start you off with a really easy pattern. In just a minute we are going to come back and I'm going to show you how to ready all the little nuances of a pattern and what you are going to need to know to get the right amount of fabric and the notions.
