"Hi, this is Vicki Walker from Expert Village. Today for the purpose of our demonstration on how to make a butterfly chair cover I'm going to be showing how to make a flat felled seam. This is the seam that would cover up the raw edges of our seat cover. As well as making the seat cover more durable to make sure that it does not come loose because they would be well worn through the years with children sitting in them. And maybe come adults. I'm going to spread this open so I can press the seam to one side and use my iron to press the seam all the way to one side. Some fabric press a little easier then other but this is pressing down really well though. I'm going to do the same thing for the other well for the other section the lower portion of the seat cover. Pressing that seam to the opposite side that I press on the other portion of the seat cover. I would explain why in a future clip. After that is pressed down I would use my scissors to go to the under part of the seam and trim that to 1/4 of a inch all the way down. It may be easier to do it this way. The other portion of the seam is going to be used to sew around that and case it so it does not come unraveled. These might work better. I would do the same thing with the top portion of the seat cover and I would explain future in the next clip in case that seam."
