" Hi! This is Roy Stringfellow for expertvillage.com. What we’re going to do now is begin making our coil pot. The first thing that we’re going to do is prepare the beginning form to place our pot in. What we do with this is simply use it to start without having the coils and the pot fall apart. Native Americans call this type of thing that we’re using a pookie, which is what we’re going to be using. What I’m going to do in order to keep the clay or allow the clay to slip out of this good old magic WD 40. I’m going to spray the inside of this just a little bit and let it soak. The next thing we’re going to do is simply take a piece of the clay that we have torn off of that stuff that we put in the extruder and kind of flatten it out a little bit and get it ready to…Probably make a little bit more here…become the bottom of our coil pot. You can do that by placing it between these two sticks that I had mentioned earlier as far as the equipment. What this does is give us an even height of the clay. We’re going to take our rolling pin and simply roll this across the clay. Rotate it a little bit and press it down, so now we have a piece of clay…get the air bubbles out of it…that is going to serve as the bottom of our pot. The next thing that we’ll do is very quickly take an object, which I’ve chosen this little plumber’s tape thing for the circular pattern, and cut around it. Out of that we have the form that’s going to be the bottom of the pot. Then I’m going to take that, move this WD40 around a little bit, and then simply place it in a bottom of the form. Okay. "
