" Hi! My name is Shawna on behalf of Expert Village, and in this clip we are going to talk about pins. Now the number one rule for pins is you can never have too many, and there are so many different types of pins out there. You have quilting pins that are a little bit longer and a little bit thicker, different types of quilting pins, different lengths of quilting pins, some have the big head, some have the smaller head. This is a really nice one. This is the flower head pin. It has a little flower, and it is flat so that you can, I don’t know they are just really nice to use. You can use them for a lot of different things. There are silk pins that work really well when you are using delicate fabrics, especially silks, satins, different things like that. They have a really sharp point and it doesn’t poke lots of holes, so it doesn’t cut the threads. It is a very nice pin to have. There are these petite pins that can be used for like your boards that you have, that you need to punch into your boards if you want to place something in a certain spot and then press it. You can use that for that. Then you have the glass head pins, which are really nice because they are sharp pins; they are not too long, but they have a glass head on it. So if you press it, which you are going to do a lot in quilting or clothing or anything like that, you are going to be pressing a lot and this will not melt from the iron, so that’s a great pin to have. So you can see there are lots of different pins, but the important thing about pins is you need to make sure they are sharp, need to make sure they are made well and that they are not scraping as you put them through the fabric, which you can hear. This is a real nice thing to have if you have a lot of pins. This is a magnetic pin cushion, and just has a magnet inside and it just keeps those altogether really nicely, and you could have one for almost different type of pin, so pins are a definite necessity.
