Series Summary

Scrapbooking is a craft that utilizes many different skills—photography, page layout and design. Scrapbooking has been around since people were able to have photos in their possession. It is a way to visually preserve moments, feelings or experiences in your life that might otherwise be written down or forgotten. It all started in 1976 when Marielen W. Christensen began keeping a book of photographs in new devices called sheet protectors. By 1980 she had assembled over 50 of these books and was asked to display them at the World Conference on Records in Salt Lake City. Since then the door of scrapbooking has been opened and flooded by people wanting to find unique ways to remember their pasts and experiences.

In these arts and crafts videos, learn scrapbooking tips and techniques that will help your scrap book come alive and push your creativity to become more personal and more expressive. Get free ideas for scrapbook page layout ideas, photo matting, and adding details to your presentation. Our expert will even show you how to use the Coluzzle system to add a special something to your album. Enjoy.

Video Transcript

"Hi, I’m Shelly Cordsen with expertvillage.com and we’re going to enter the world of scrapbooking which is a giant world and we’re going to narrow it down and make it great for a beginner and make it real simple. Your normal scrapbooking you always think it’s got to be a 12x12 format like this says and you got to be creative and fancy and you got to have a lot of tools. Well I’m going to show you where you really don’t need to begin with this idea. We’re going to start with a 6x6, very small, one picture maybe two on a page. Make every page simple, see we have no more than two colors here, you don’t have to be real creative to do this. These make wonderful gift sizes, great brag books, as a matter of fact this is my grandma brag book and I carry it with me in my purse, when I go on vacation I’ve got all my grandbabies right here. What’s wonderful is I’m going to show you how to make 10 pages in a 6x6 format out of three pieces of paper. Stay on board because toward the end I’m also going to show how just pictures alone can become your own design by just cutting them and sticking them on a piece of paper and they’re so much fun, I’m going to introduce you to a tool called the coluzzle, so stay tuned."
