"Hi! I'm Shelly Cordsen with expertvillage.com. We are now going to make our handle for our luggage tag. You need a strip of fabric. We had already cut 2 x 14. The fastest way I’ve learned to do this is a lot of pressing. We're going to press it in half, wrong sides together. We're going to open that up and then take each edge and bring into that fold that you've pressed, and then press all the way along. I'm all for simple, fast, easy. There's a lot harder way to do this. I won't even confuse you with it. Do the other side, bring it in. Now we're going to take that and fold it in half. One more pressing. Now we're going to take and we're going to sew and 1/8 an inch each side, here and here. We're now going to sew an 1/8 an inch. That's kind of a pretty small seam. I always use what I call a bunny tail to start my sewing on so my thread doesn't get caught down in my machine. Now we're going to do an 1/8 of an inch, so I'm going to start sewing on my bunny tail. Lift my foot up, stick my fabric under there. I have 1/8 of an inch marking, and I'm just going to go on down. You can choose to do one side, the side that's the open seam. If you would like, you can go down the other side. It's not critical; it's more of a cosmetic decision. We could leave it just like this; it's sealed. If you want to, you can sew down the other side just to make it more flat. "
