"Homemade soap probably from cooking it over a campfire in colonial days has a reputation for being very harsh so I wanted to show you a litmus test here that will demonstrate that our soap is about the same as commercial soap. A range of 5.5 to 10 which is off this scale is perfectly safe for use. What you do is take a piece of litmus testing paper and put a little water there and rub your soap over it. This is soap we just made and it has not had a chance to cure and you can see that our commercial bar and some bars that have completely cured are about an 8.0 on the PH range scale and our new bar you can see that it is a little darker, is probably a 9 or even 10 on this scale. Even this would be relatively safe for you to use. As this cures, the PH will neutralize and calm down to somewhere in this range or maybe even lower for this bar. This is one technique out of many for decorating your beautiful new soaps. I am going to use paraffin wax to paint these leaves that we dried onto out newly made bars. I put a layer of wax here, drop the leaf on that, holds the leaf on. Now I am going to take and put a thin layer of paraffin over the top. I hope you have enjoyed this class and that it is an encouragement for you to go out and make your own soap."

on 8/2/2008 I had helped my grandmother make laundry soap when I was a child. I have always wanted to do bathing soap. I had researched in several areas trying to find how to do this. I am so excited to give it a try now! After watching this video, it was a hudge help! Staight and to the point with no confusion. Thats what I needed. Thank you very much for the time and input with this video.

on 8/2/2008 I have been researching about handmade soap myeslf and found these video classes to be a wealth of information for first time soapies, like myself, however I had big problems viewing the videos properly as thefreedictionary.co m wedsite kept popping up on the screen and cutting it out, so I had to watch the video for 10 minutes in bits to see the 2 minute class, also a video of Gwen Sterfani kept loading.
I checked all the setting on my computer and they were set to block the popups but they kept coming. I had to replayed each video after it had finished,in order to view the class without being interrupted by these pescky popups.
I was of a mind to visit thefreedictionary website but am a little ticked off with it right now.
However I must say, I now have a better understanig of what this project entails and feel confident of this one project that I will for sure be able complete.
