It can be, if you have the time and the inclination and the client is interested in doing a unique way of tattooing, you can actually let the tattoo completely heal and then actually lay colors over the top and you're doing a similar kind of technique to glazing and oil painting where you can create layers of pigment built up in the surface of the skin by letting each one heal and then coming back in and working colors over the top. I experimented with that quite alot in the beginning of my career and with people who are willing to get tattooed and let the tattoo sit for a while to heal without being complete. "
