"Hi! My name is Shotsie Gorman, I am here as a tattoo artist for Expert Village. Ask how much it is going to cost in advance. what is the cost of the tattoo? Is there any hidden costs? Is there any limitations? Because there might be, for instance a come on where artists might say, you can have that tattoo but if you want to add more color to it you have to pay twenty dollars for each color. And then you know that you are not dealing with a legitimate tattoo artist. A legitimate tattoo artist is going to give you an idea of how long the tattoo will take, they will know exactly how long it will take them to do it, they will know how expensive it will be. They will be able to explain to you in detail the proper care and maintenance for the tattoo after it is done. They will have displayed on their walls; inspection stickers or inspection certificates from the community health department that they have their businesses in. They will have business licenses, they will have company names and business cards. These are all the things that you want to make sure you look for, otherwise you walk into somebody's room, they do a tattoo and you go back within two days with a problem and they are not there anymore. You have no resource, you have no way of finding out what was done, whether it was done under sterile conditions or not or even who these people are. So, common sense information; find out in advance how long a tattoo artist has been working? That is the quality of the sterilization? Have they been trained by OSHA or the local Red Cross and Blood Borne Pathogens? They understand what sterilization meets and that you understand the sterilizations. And think about the tattoo and its aesthetics. Will you think that a tattoo of Yosemite Sam drinking a beer, twenty years from now in your life is going to be a good idea? So what you think is cleaver now, may not be so in twenty years. If you are eighteen, think about the bands that you thought were fantastic at twelve and what you think is fantastic now. Imagine yourself twenty more years down the line, don't think that you will always be committed to those same ideas."
