Some of the first candles ever used were made to light up temples in ancient Egypt, China, Japan, and India. The making of candles was industrialized in 1834 when Joseph Morgan invented a machine that manufactured 1500 candles per hour. Today, it is easy to make candles at home, and many enjoy candle-making as a hobby. Candles are a great light source utilizing an internal wick that is surrounded by a column of wax. Paraffin wax is the most commonly used type of wax, though soy and vegetable-based wax candles are becoming more and more popular.

"Hi, I'm Rachel for Expert Village today I'm going to show you how to create candles. It is an easier way to make candles you won't need to melt anything. It is basically wax sheets, colored wax sheets which you roll around, you're going to see. After rolling it I'm going to show you different ways of decorating them and then I'm going to show you how to make candle flowers, very pretty you can put on the table. It is not dangerous, it is spaced out and it is nice decorating either lit up or as it is. The last thing I'm going to show you is how to create birthday candles, a birthday message candle as you see there is like small candles on top. Then I'll show you how to make those small clothes pins with the little paper messages which is a very original way to light up a candle, a birthday candle to bring it instead of putting it onto a cake. Sometimes you really don't want the wax on the cake and this is a very nice way to light candles to sing happy birthday and then not to have wax on your cake."
