"We're now going to talk about choosing tiles for your tile mosaic project. There are two basic types of tiles to choose from, low fire tiles and high fire tiles. The low fire versus the high fire basically refers to the temperature at which the tiles are baked at in the kiln. Low fire tiles are much easier to break and to shape, and tend to come in much brighter colors. They're also a little bit cheaper, but because they were baked at a lower temperature, they're more porous, so they're only very good for indoor use. High fire tiles can be used for indoor or outdoor use. They're a little sturdier, a little heartier, and won't absorb moisture. Tiles come in all shapes and sizes, from very, very small, to very big and colorful. You can also get tiles in solid colors, you can get them with bright and beautiful designs, and you can even get shapes. So look at your local hardware store, your tile store, or even the junkyard for all sorts of different tiles for your mosaic project."
