"This is Randall Powell with Expert Village and in this clip we are going to talk about your time is kept and how your run will end. As soon as you are back in the box there, you have a flag man that carries a flag on a horse that is going to be out in the arena with you and as soon as that gate cracks and sees that steer leave, your time starts. The header and the heeler runs down the pen, the header ropes the steer first, turns him off, the heeler ropes the steers back feet. Once they both have a legal catch and gets to the dally, gets dallied on to their horn and face their horses to each other that is when the flag man will drop the flag and that will determine when your time stops. So from the time the steer leaves the box and that flag drops, that will be your time for the run. After this is all done and taken care of, you take your steer to the back of the pen to the stripping shoot. It's just a little area they have designated at the end of the arena where there will 2 or 3 people at the roping waiting there for your steer. When your steer comes in, they take the ropes off for you and hand them back and they turn the steer loose with all the other cattle that has just been roped and ride back up the arena and get ready for your next rope. That is the timing and the end of the run. "
