"Randall Powell for Expert Village and in this clip, we are going to talk to you about being ready to get on a horse and go rope. So as soon as you have practiced on your dummy and you are confident enough to get on a horse and go try the whole team roping thing, the first thing you need to do is go find somebody that has an arena if you don't have one of your own. Make sure that the ground is nice and soft and fairly deep; 4 to 5 inches deep. It would be helpful on your horse. Keep his feet good and sound. If you don't find anybody, you can go to a local feed store if you don't anybody around and ask them and they usually know people that have an arena and cattle is another thing you also need to get. If you have your own pen, you can lease cattle and they run about $25 to $40 a month per head depending on what kind of cattle you get, where you get him and you get it from. You can lease or you can buy them. Roping steers usually run from $400 to $600 depending on where you get them, who you buy them from and the quality of the cattle. You need the arena and roping steers to get after it and once you get all that lined up, you can start practicing off a horse and maybe those tips will help you find a place to practice. "
