"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Natalia Paruz, also known as "the saw lady." You can find me in New York City, and today I'm going to teach you how to play a saw. You can play the saw by sliding from note to note. Or you can snap the blade from note to note; thus, avoiding the glissando, that inherent quality of portamento that the saw has. Snapping of the blade is achieved by a quick move off the hand as oppose to. When you glide you pass through all the tones and microtones in between the notes. When you snap you go directly from one note to the other."
