"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Natalia Paruz, also known as "the saw lady." You can find me in New York City, and today I'm going to teach you how to play a saw. In my research about the history of the carpenter's hand saw as a musical instrument, I came across obituaries of priests from about 150-200 years ago. In their obituaries, it said that reverend so and so played the musical saw in Sunday services. The saw was actually used in lathargical music. Before it became famous as a vaudeville act, about a 100 years ago vaudeville had basically a saw player in every show. Even the famous Ziegfeld Follies had a vaudeville saw player in it. All these saw players back then in vaudeville times build themselves as the one and only saw player or the inventor of musical saw playing. They all built themselves that way. It was just a publicity stunt, and actually saw playing dates way before that. "
