"On behalf of expertvillage.com my name is Neal Jones with A Perfect Fit Alterations and we are at 102 Main Street, Burleson, Texas our phone number is 817-447-3522. Continuing with our setup as our machine is very complicated we need to make sure that we maintain these cards. Now the last card that we covered was with the 3 thread, now 3 thread let me just explain the difference between 3 thread and 4 thread, the 3 thread machine the 3 thread setup on the machine would be for serging on the edge of fabrics to stop them from fraying and to stop the sides of the fabrics or the ends of the fabric from unraveling. The 4 thread machine would be used when you’re constructing a garment, now in order to have the 4 thread setup we would then have to go back to our cards and we would then follow the card from the 3 thread, we would starting over here it would be a picture of and if we can look at this here we will see that the difference between the pictures on the thread, so again we can do this with pictures as well we know we want an extra line of stitching going in here in which we don’t have on the 3 thread. As you can see and the reason we need these cards is that now our adjustments then become very different, we will start over here with our picture and second one we’ll start with our stitch length. Now our stitch length as oppose to the last one goes to 2.5, here we are on 2.5 the differential feed is one, come back over here now we would then have to reinstall our left hand needle. Now our left hand needle would the needle head would be marked left and right, we would have our little screw here that we would loosen which we’d use this wrench for the one I’m using for a pointer, we would loosen that and reinstall our left hand needle we would already have our right hand needle installed. Then we would have to replace our blue thread or whatever color it was but for these purposes we’re going to call it our blue thread, reinstall our blue thread which would come through our usual guides and our tension adjustment and we’ll go through here. Now as we come across here we would then make an adjustment which we saw on the side of the machine again right here we would turn that to 5.8, now then we would then need our upper looper would need to be threaded and we see a picture of our upper looper right here which its located here and you can identify it from the picture and we would need our thread width guide which is right here and it would need to be in place. Now the numbers across the top here are referred to the thread tensions, now on the blue thread we need a 5 while we’re set on 4 we have a dot right here so we turn that tension to 5, the red thread we need 3 now we’re set on 3 we’re okay there, on the yellow thread we need 2 and on the green thread we need 2 and that would complete everything on our card and that will enable us then to move forward and sew with 4 threads as oppose to 3."
