"Hi! My name is Nick. I'm a professional body piercer over at Studio City Tattoo in Studio City, California. On behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to demonstrate how a body piercing is performed. Instead of using a live model, I'm going to be using this ear here to demonstrate how the process goes. To start, we will first do a prep on the skin here just to clean the area with an antimicrobial solution. This would obviously be more thorough if this was a live person, but we're going to take a tooth pick dipped with a little bit of gentian violet for ink as to avoid cross contamination of a pen. We're going to mark the site that gets pierced. At this point, I would okay it with the client to make sure that they like the positioning of the piercing. At this point, we're going to go ahead and open up our tooling. The needle gets open. Also, demonstrating that I'm opening the needle in front of them and showing them the package that indicated that this needle has in fact been sterilized properly. All we do is we get lined up and ready. I'm going to inform that they just need to take a deep breath in, and when they let it out they're just going to feel a quick pinch. That's what I'm going to do. I'm going to get lined up and ask them to take a deep breath in and slowly let it out. When they let it out they're going to feel a little pinch. That's it. The piercings done. I'm going to advance the needle here, which doesn't hurt. Grab our jewelry here that's going to be inserted. We're going to push that guy through. The jewelry is in. We're going to dispose of that needle in a sharps container. All we'll do is simply bend the ring back to size and they have their new body piercing."
