"Hello! This is Peggy Charlton for Expert Village talking about how to write an essay. And our last example would be a description. This is very effective. He looked outside and saw the colorful, beautiful flowers. They grabbed his interest and gave his heart a tug. Why? Perhaps it's because it was the first time at age 42 he had ever seen in his life. I've been talking about the 6 kinds of your introduction, and that was the first statement of your introduction. We had the different ones, startling statement, anecdote, etc. Now, after you've picked one of those to write then you're going to need to write your thesis sentence. In a research paper, this is very long, but in an average essay, it can be just one sentence. Now, the thesis sentence is going to tell the general purpose of your essay and perhaps give some information. "
