Summary: Make your own designer tshirt! Get tips for using iron on designs in this free video clip about designing custom t-shirts.
"Hi, I'm Melina Piroso and welcome to Expert Village. We are going to iron each piece and you have to make sure that when you are ironing that you have no steam in the iron. Because what we are doing here is we are essentially gluing paint or any sort of color onto our T-Shirt. So, the paint is essentially the ink from our printer that printed out on this piece of paper. And the transfer paper has glue on it and when you iron it the glue melts the color into the shirt. And if you have, if you are steaming, then it is going to get wet and it is not going to seal correctly. So you want to go ahead and do this for about a minute and you want to monitor your progress. You are going to notice that when the ink really starts to set in the edges of the transfer are going to start lifting up on their own. That's going to be your cue that you are almost done and that the color is sticking on perfectly. Not only are you moving the iron around and covering the whole surface, but you have to make sure that you are pressing down really hard; you really want that ink to get into the shirt. You can always lift up a little to see how everything is coming. You see no ink coming off on your paper. You want to avoid it. If you see more coming off, put the paper back on and iron it a little more. So, now you can see that our transfers are complete."
