"Ok. Now, we're down to the final stages of the finish. I've just put a pretty good coat of lacquer on this, spray lacquer. And, I'm going to take this kitchen sponge. It's got abrasive on side and sponge on the other. I'm going to use the abrasive side. Because, I don't want to use steel wool. On a rough surface like this, steel wool is going to leave tiny particles of metal in the wood. And, they will rust after awhile. And, kind of mess up your finish. So, it's just a good rub down. And, put good pressure on it. Scrub that lacquer down until it's nice and smooth. I'm going to do that all over the piece. Kind of like that. It gives it a nice little satin finish. Now, for me I would usually put seven or eight coats of lacquer on this. But, you can do as many as you want. After you rub it down with this scrubby, put another two coats of lacquer and scrub it down with the scrubby again. And, just do that until you're satisfied with the finish. Extra coats of lacquer will bring out the wood grain and just kind of give this a real soft finished look. But, it takes a long time to do that. And, a little bit longer than it's practical for this T.V. clip. And, so assuming that we've done all that. Here we go. This is our finished cane. Which is just about the right height for me. And, now I can hobble off and eat cookies."
