"Hi. I'm Michelle and I'm here today on behalf of Expert Village. We're gonna learn how to knit a scarf for beginners and while we're doing that we'll also go over some basic tips that you need to know to get started in knitting. A nice way to decorate a scarf is with fringe. And it's easy to do with a piece of cardboard, a crochet hook and some scissors. I've decided to make four inch fringe. So I've cut my cardboard to be two inches in width. We're gonna wrap it around and cut it in half. So you always wanna do half of the length that you want. I'll take the yarn and I'll hold it here with one finger and I'll begin wrapping it around my cardboard until I have all the fringe that I want for my scarf. Simply snip the long end. And then slide the under here, snip again and you can see that you have several pieces of yarn 4 inches in length. Now, we're gonna use our crochet hook to add these into the scarf. Starting from either end. Insert your crochet hook into a loop, and there's no right or wrong loop to do this, really, just whatever you want to. Fold your fringe in half and now you'll use the crochet hook to pull that fringe right through your scarf. Bring it up until you have enough room in this loop to push through the ends. You want to make sure that you get all the pieces that you wanna use. All you have to do then is just pull it tight. And you'll see that you've got some nice fringe added to your scarf. If you wanna keep it even you can always take your scissors, go back at the end and even it up. Although sometimes when I'm doing lots of thick fringe, I think it's fun to have a little variation there as well."
