"Hi, I'm Michelle and I am here today on behalf of Expert Village. We're going to learn how to knit a scarf for beginners and while we are doing that we'll also go over some basic tips that you need to know to get started in knitting. We finally have all of our equipment and now we have a plan of action that you have a pattern in your hand. So finally let's get started knitting. The first thing we need to do is cast on. Now we are going to do that in a basic knit cast on. I'm going to slide the needle from the front to the back and I'm then going to take the yarn, wrap it around this needle left to right. Pull it through, bringing that yarn with me and slide it on to my other needle like so. I like to cast on fairly loosely because I think it makes the next row a lot easier. So let's watch again from this angle. Put your needle, slide it in from the front to the back and then wrap your yarn around that what is now your back needle from the left to the right. Pull it through, use that needle in your right hand to hook that yarn and bring it through the stitch that is already on your needle and then slide it right back on and you have cast on another stitch. Now here, I've got four stitches on my needle, you can imagine that would be a pretty narrow scarf. So using the pattern that you've selected, going ahead and cast on as many stitches as your pattern calls for and then we'll be ready to move to the next step."
